Homaridae is called Lobster and it’s been appreciated since Antiquity. It was consumed as food and also grinded and used as a medicine. Its impressive and powerful claws feature in many stories and myths. This crustacean usually grows up to 50 cm, although it has been recorded that the biggest specimen ever fished was 1.20 meters long, and weighed 20 kg.
The flesh of the Lobster is highly sought after, both for its rarity and its fine taste. Indeed, it is considered one of the finest shellfish.
Our range includes the two existing species of Lobsters:
- American Lobster, Homarus Americanus, fished on the Atlantic coast of North America
- European Lobster or common Lobster, Homarus Gammarus, this high quality shellfish is fished in the Eastern Atlantic Ocean, the Mediterranean Sea and the Black Sea.
