Rich in fiber, potassium and magnesium, blackberries can be red, but are mostly black colored. They are meltingly soft and sweet at will, and appreciated in pastries.

How to buy

Choose bright blackberries, pulpy and firm. Avoid those that are mushy or are blemished.

You can keep blackberries in the fridge for a week, placed unwashed in a bowl.

Tips

Blackberries go bad when they are washed. Ideally, simply blowing over them would be enough to clean them. But for sanitary reasons, the best is to plunge them delicately into warm water.
